Position Overview: seeking a dedicated and experienced ICU Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dynamic team at a Level 1 Trauma Center. This role is ideal for nurses with a strong background in critical care who are adaptable, compassionate, and ready to float between high-acuity units as needed.
Responsibilities: - Deliver exceptional, evidence-based nursing care to critically ill adult patients in a variety of ICU settings.
- Float between ICU units including Burn ICU, CCU, Medical ICU, SICU, and Neuro ICU .
- When required, provide support to Medical-Surgical (MS) units within RN scope of practice.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Maintain accurate documentation using Cerner EMR system.
Schedule & Shift Details: - Shift: 3x12-hour shifts
- Weekends: Required to work every other weekend (2 weekends/month)
- Call Requirement: None
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours/week
- Block Scheduling: Not available
Time Off (RTO) Policy: - Maximum of 5 days RTO , with no more than 2 consecutive days .
- No RTO allowed on holidays , weekends, or the day before or after a holiday .
- RTO requests must be submitted at time of submission for consideration.
Floating Requirements: Cook County Health is a MANDATORY FLOAT FACILITY.
ICU RNs must be willing to float between ICU units as well as Medical-Surgical units when required, based on facility needs and at management discretion.
Qualifications: Required Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years recent acute care ICU experience
Required Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
Licensure:
- Active RN license required at time of submission
- Pending licenses not accepted
Locals:
- Locals accepted and preferred
- Must live within 75 miles of the facility
Facility Highlights: - Level 1 Trauma Center

- Scrub Color: Navy Blue (not provided)
- Parking: $2/day at Juvenile Temporary Detention Center (JTDC) with a shuttle running every 15 minutes to Stroger Hospital
