Shift Notes
7p-7a weekends as needed, Float to all St. Lukes Treasure Valley Sites-Meridian, Nampa, Boise in primary skill set (L&D, Postpartum, or Antepartum) or as a sitter.
LDRP Unit Overview: - Beds & Facilities:
- 14 LDRP beds – Patients remain in the same room for labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum care.
- 2 OR suites for C-sections – Nurses circulate and recover.
- 4 triage beds – Staffed by travelers, will be used for patient evaluations.
- Birth Statistics:
- 90 births per month , 1200 births per year .
- Staffing & Ratios:
- 1:1 labor care for most cases, except for paired cervical ripening patients.
- Postpartum : 1:3 couplets.
- Triage : 1:3, with a resource nurse utilized when the triage is full.
- AWHONN guidelines for ratios followed.
- Certifications & Skills:
- Required : NPR, BLS, ACLS, STABLE.
- Experience : Minimum of 3 years L&D experience. Mother-baby experience (1 year preferred).
- Additional Skills : Ability to attend deliveries, manage newborn care, circulate C-sections, and provide postpartum care. Familiarity with magnesium usage required.
- Drip Protocols:
- Pitocin, Magnesium, and occasionally Insulin drips.
- RNs titrate drips as needed.
- Charge Nurse & Support:
- Charge nurses do not take an assignment, as they manage the floor.
- Resource RN helps with breaks and attends deliveries, providing stabilization and care.
- CNA and CST on duty, but CNAs may sometimes fill in for HUC roles due to sick calls.
- Other Key Personnel:
- OB hospitalist and Neonatal NP available 24/7 .
- Anesthesia available 24/7.
- RT support available for troubleshooting.
- Scheduling:
- 7-7 shifts (Resource and Charge Nurse shifts: 0645-1845, 1845-0645).
- No block scheduling ; traveler flexibility is necessary.
- Floating & Locations:
- Potential to float to other St. Luke’s Treasure Valley sites : Meridian, Nampa, Boise.
- Must be able to float within L&D, Postpartum, Antepartum , or as a sitter.
- Other Details:
- Orientation : 4 shifts on the unit, including C/S, labor, and postpartum.
- Dress Code : Hospital-issued scrubs. No acrylic or gel nails due to NICU proximity.
- No call or standby required .
- Travelers extend and are often re-hired.
- 50-mile radius rule for candidates.
