Key Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates proficiency in advanced surgical techniques across multiple specialties
  • Applies expert knowledge in emergency situations to support patient and surgical team safety
  • Anticipates the needs of both patient and surgeon through critical thinking and proactive preparation
  • Performs and maintains accurate counts of instruments, sponges, and needles before, during, and after procedures
  • Secures and prepares all surgical instruments and supplies prior to operations
  • Ensures the sterile field is properly established and maintained throughout procedures
  • Prepares patient skin for surgical intervention using aseptic techniques
  • Assists with patient positioning and re-positioning during surgery
  • Monitors patient status intraoperatively and provides support as needed
  • Delivers compassionate care during the pre-operative phase
  • Executes scrub functions with precision and adherence to protocol
  • Handles and routes surgical specimens correctly to designated departments
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and intraoperative medications
  • Stays current with industry developments through seminars, workshops, and professional publications
  • Adheres strictly to federal, state, and departmental safety regulations
  • Demonstrates advanced competency in ENT, plastic surgery, ophthalmic procedures, complex breast surgeries, and orthopedic/spine surgeries

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Current BLS certification
  • Minimum of two years experience in a hospital operating room or outpatient operating room setting
  • Certification Required or minimum of 5+ years of experience
