Title: Respiratory Therapist
Shift: Nights | 4x12-Hour Shifts
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver prescribed respiratory care, including mechanical ventilation (invasive and non-invasive), oxygen therapy, aerosol therapy, and nebulization.
  • Perform chest physiotherapy, secretion clearance, suctioning (oropharyngeal, nasal, tracheal), and tracheostomy care (insertion, removal, and maintenance).
  • Conduct diagnostic and monitoring procedures: oximetry, capnography, 12-lead EKGs, pulmonary function testing (NIF, VC), arterial punctures, and chest x-ray reviews.
  • Assist with specialized procedures: bronchoscopy, percutaneous tracheostomy, chest tube placement, and PleurX catheter drainage.
  • Manage and troubleshoot ventilatory equipment, ensuring preventative maintenance and repair when needed.
  • Provide patient and family education regarding respiratory care, equipment use, and discharge planning.
  • Participate in emergency response, including endotracheal intubation and CPR per BLS and ACLS protocols.
  • Document patient assessments, treatments, outcomes, and billing accurately in medical records.
  • Maintain compliance with hospital, laboratory, and safety policies, including all pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic testing requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with physicians, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals during patient care and shift handoffs.
Qualifications
  • Licensed Respiratory Therapist (active and in good standing)
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in acute care hospital or trauma setting preferred
  • BLS and ACLS certification required
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical ventilation, invasive/non-invasive therapies, and critical care procedures
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in high-acuity environments
