Job Description

Exeter Hospital is seeking an experienced Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Registered Nurse to join their team for a 12-hour day shift assignment. This role supports a 10-bed ICU caring for a diverse mix of critically ill patients in a community hospital setting. Candidates must be clinically strong, adaptable, and able to provide high-quality critical care in a fast-paced environment.

 

Unit & Patient Details

10-Bed Adult ICU
Typical case mix includes:

  • Critically ill adult patients
  • Medical emergencies
  • Post-surgical and post-operative monitoring
  • Respiratory failure & ventilator management
  • Sepsis & septic shock
  • Acute cardiac and neurological cases
  • Stroke patients (Primary Stroke Center with telestroke/tele-neurology)

Pediatric Critical Care:

  • No dedicated PICU onsite
  • ICU stabilizes and manages some pediatric cases until transfer to a tertiary pediatric center when required

Requirements

  • Active NH or Compact RN License
  • 2+ years of recent ICU experience
  • ACLS – AHA (required)
  • BLS – AHA (required)
  • Ability to work 12H day shifts and every 3rd weekend
  • ILH coversheet must be submitted with profile
  • Past travelers must be separated from BILH for 6+ months to be eligible

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-acuity bedside care to critically ill adults
  • Assess, plan, and implement complex care plans
  • Manage ventilators, titratable drips, and advanced monitoring
  • Respond to rapid responses and codes
  • Collaborate closely with intensivists, hospitalists, and interdisciplinary teams
  • Document and manage patient care using facility systems
