Key Responsibilities
Detecting, preventing, and apprehending undocumented noncitizens and smugglers
Maintaining surveillance from covert positions
Responding to electronic sensor alarms
Patrolling international boundaries and coastal waterways
Utilizing various government assets for law enforcement duties
Required Qualifications
U.S. Citizenship
Primary U.S. residency for at least three of the last five years
Ability to complete training at the Border Patrol Academy
Ability to speak and read Spanish
Age under 40 at the time of selection
Preferred Qualifications
Current or prior law enforcement experience
Military law enforcement experience
Higher education in criminal justice or related fields
