Safeway is creating a pool of candidates for temporary grocery store associate roles in the event of a labor strike. The role involves ensuring a positive shopping experience by assisting customers, maintaining store operations, and supporting various departments.
Key Responsibilities
Greet customers and assist with locating products
Operate cash registers and handle transactions accurately
Bag groceries and assist with carry-outs as needed
Address customer inquiries and escalate issues to supervisors
Restock shelves and maintain product displays
Ensure items are properly labeled and priced
Rotate stock and remove expired or damaged items
Maintain cleanliness of aisles, restrooms, and common areas
Sanitize carts, baskets, and checkout stations
Assist in Produce, Deli, Bakery, Meat, or Dairy departments
Perform basic food prep, packaging, and stocking duties
Required Qualifications
Ability to lift up to 40 lbs
Ability to stand for extended periods
Strong communication skills
Teamwork skills
Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends
