The Senior Director of Behavior at ARC & CARE leads a dedicated team to ensure the medical and behavioral health of animals rescued from cruelty. This role requires collaboration with various teams to develop innovative strategies for animal rehabilitation and adoption, fostering a compassionate and effective care environment.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee behavioral care and pathway planning for ARC and CARE animals
Ensure high quality, low stress patient and population care
Manage, coach, and collaborate with staff
Lead research projects and share knowledge
Required Qualifications
3+ years’ experience in people management
Ability to work well within a team and communicate effectively
Experience working with behaviorally and medically compromised animals
Comfort with humane euthanasia decisions and procedures
Fear Free certified within 6 months of hire
Low Stress Handling – Silver certified or can obtain certification by end of first year
Preferred Qualifications
Interest in developing/overseeing research projects
Experience writing scientific publications for peer-reviewed journals
