Description: The Plant Manager is primarily responsible for the daily execution of steel fabrication by planning production, aligning resources, and setting productivity expectations for process lines, shop leads, and individual workers. This role requires a strong background in structural steel fabrication, excellent leadership skills, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency. It also requires close coordination and communication with peers in other departments. Responsibilities: Operational Management: Oversee all aspects of the plant's operations, including production scheduling, resource allocation, and workflow optimization. Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of skilled workers, supervisors, and support staff to achieve production goals and maintain a positive work environment. Quality Control: Ensure all products meet or exceed industry standards and customer specifications through rigorous quality control processes. Utilize quality data to institute a training program that addresses the most common causes of rework and errors. Safety Compliance: Implement and enforce safety protocols to maintain a safe working environment and ensure compliance with OSHA and other regulatory requirements. Maintenance Management: Work with plant maintenance personnel to enforce a preemptive maintenance and service program to maximize equipment uptime and minimize unscheduled breakdowns. Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and increase overall efficiency. Customer Relations: Collaborate with sales, project management, logistics, and procurement to ensure customer satisfaction and address any issues or concerns promptly. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree. Minimum of 5 years of experience in structural steel fabrication or a similar manufacturing environment. Proven leadership and team management skills. Strong understanding of fabrication processes, equipment, and industry standards. Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities. Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in using manufacturing software and tools. Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices. Certification in Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma. Experience with ERP systems. Physical Requirements: Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs. repeatedly, occasionally lift greater than 50 lbs. with the support of other team members. Ability to operate tools such as electric and gas-powered chainsaws, nail guns, banding clamps, and pry bars. Ability to work in an uncontrolled climate, including heat, cold, and humidity. Capability to stand for long periods of time. Ability to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch. Ability to detect alarms and signals, both auditory and visual. Depth perception and eye-hand coordination for precision tasks and safety. Effective communication skills to coordinate with team members and follow instructions. Ability to perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
