Cardiac Stepdown RN Job Details

• Location: Morgantown, WV 26506 (West Virginia healthcare jobs)
• Setting: Acute Care – Neuro Stepdown & Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU)
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks (Start: Nov 7, 2025 – End: Feb 6, 2026)
• Shift: 12-hour nights (7:00pm – 7:30am), Friday–Sunday; holidays as scheduled
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1880-$2020
• Unit Size: 31 beds (25 Stepdown, 6 EMU)
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:3 for Stepdown, 1:5–6 for EMU
• Charting System: EPIC
• Scrub Color: Royal Blue

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active RN license (must reside outside 50 miles from facility)
• Minimum 1 year of recent Neuro Stepdown or Cardiac Stepdown RN experience
• BLS certification required; NIHSS certification preferred
• EPIC charting experience required
• Strong neuro clinical skills; EVD experience preferred
• COVID-19 vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
• Willingness to work weekends and holidays as scheduled
• Ability to float to similar nursing units as needed

Cardiac Stepdown RN Responsibilities

• Provide safe, effective nursing care to high-acuity neuroscience and cardiac stepdown patients (strokes, seizures, craniotomies, post-TPA management)
• Monitor and manage patients in both Stepdown and EMU settings
• Administer and titrate medications per physician orders (Amiodarone, Cardizem, Nitro, dopamine, Nipride, Ketamine, Lasix, Bumex, Insulin)
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams, including charge nurses, nurse aides, and respiratory therapists
• Accurately document patient care and interventions using EPIC
• Participate in unit orientation and adhere to dress code
• Maintain flexibility to float to other clinical units as needed
