Labor & Delivery RN Job Details

• Location: Des Moines, Iowa (50309) – Iowa nursing jobs
• Healthcare Setting: Labor & Delivery Unit (45 beds, 2 ORs)
• Assignment Duration: 13-week travel contract
• Start Date: November 24, 2025
• End Date: February 23, 2026
• Shift: 12-hour nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Weekend/Holiday Rotation: Every 3rd weekend & holiday rotation if scheduled
• Employment Type: Travel RN contract
• On-Site Position
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $2070 - $2220

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Minimum 1.5 years of recent Labor & Delivery RN experience in a hospital setting
• At least one completed travel nursing contract in the past 12 months (no first-time travelers)
• Active Iowa RN license required
• Certifications: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), NRP
• Ability to float across all campuses (Iowa Methodist Medical Center, Iowa Lutheran Hospital)
• Submission of work history/resume, skills checklist (completed within 1 year), license verification, required certifications, and one supervisory reference from the past 2 years

Labor & Delivery Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, compassionate care to Labor & Delivery patients, including high-risk OB, antepartum, c-sections, and vaginal deliveries
• Administer and monitor IV drips (magnesium, insulin, pitocin)
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare team members for optimal patient outcomes
• Float to Mother/Baby and Postpartum units as needed
• Maintain accurate documentation using EPIC EMR
• Follow hospital policies and procedures, including weekend and holiday rotation requirements
• Wear hospital-provided scrubs
