Position Overview

The Med Surg IU Unit at Bay Area Medical Center is seeking experienced Registered Nurses to provide high-quality care for adult medical-surgical patients. This is a supportive environment with a patient-focused team and strong hospitalist coverage 24/7.

Patient Population

• General medical-surgical patients
• Acuity-based assignments
• COVID care with adequate PPE provided

Ratios & Support

• RN Ratios:
  • Days: 1:4–5
  • Nights: 1:5–6
• Tech Ratios:
  • Days: 1:7
  • Nights: 1:9
• Support Staff Includes:
  • Patient-free charge nurse
  • LPNs supporting entire unit
  • Unit receptionist (days)
  • Centralized telemetry monitoring with dedicated tele tech
  • 24/7 hospitalist coverage
  • 24/7 RT support
  • Phlebotomy assistance for blood draws

Requirements

• Experience: 2 years Med Surg RN experience
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIH Stroke Scale
• Skills: Telemetry competency required
• First-Time Travelers: Accepted

Orientation

• At least one shift provided to learn unit flow
