Job Description
The Senior Director of Behavior at the ASPCA will lead the behavioral care and pathway planning for animals at ARC and CARE, ensuring high quality care and collaboration across various teams. This role involves overseeing a team of behavior experts, managing research projects, and promoting best practices in animal welfare.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee behavioral care and pathway planning for animals
Ensure high quality individualized care for patients
Lead and coach behavior staff
Manage and collaborate with other departments
Identify and propose research projects to advance animal welfare
Required Qualifications
3+ years’ experience in people management
Ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff
Experience working with behaviorally and medically compromised animals
Fear Free certified within 6 months of hire
Low Stress Handling – Silver certified or ability to obtain certification
Preferred Qualifications
Interest in developing/overseeing research projects
Interest in writing scientific publications for peer reviewed journals
