POSITION SUMMARY:
Serves as clinical resource to patients and team members and provides leadership/support in day-to-day clinical operations. Coordinates, supervises and is accountable for professional nursing care of patients within an assigned department. Plans, directs and coordinates the functions and activities of the Intensive Care Unit, considering to factors related to safety, quality, and cost in planning and delivery of patient care in the critical care environment. The scope of work encompasses direct and indirect professional nursing care, in support of medical care as directed by medical staff and pursuant to objectives and policies of the hospital. Plans and directs age specific nursing activities, directs unit inservices and training to nurses and other ancillary staff. Assists administration in ensuring compliance with the organizations’ mission statement.
