In our surgery units, our highly trained caregivers follow an intricate care model rooted in evidence-based practice and innovative technologies. As an RN, you will assist fellow caregivers in delivering exceptional care, from initial introduction to final send-off. In this role, you will interact directly with patients, families and visitors, offering the opportunity to enhance their experience and supply healthcare education as needed. Additionally, the Cleveland Clinic system provides nurses with many professional development resources, including furthering education and online/in-person courses to enhance your skills. 

A caregiver in this position works days from 7:00AM – 4:30PM, with every 10th weekend and on-call requirements. 

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

• Provide nursing care in an operative setting to patients undergoing surgical or invasive procedures.  
• Perform scrub and circulating functions.  
• Prepare the OR, surgical instruments and equipment for use.  
• Perform circulating functions, including monitoring, recording and communicating patient condition and managing overall nursing care of patient before, during and after procedure. 

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

• Graduate from an accredited School of Professional Nursing 
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) 
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) 
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) within six months of hire in areas performing moderate/procedural sedation 

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: 

• Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN) 
• One year of RN experience

Physical Requirements:

• Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time.
• Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
• Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

• Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 25 pounds and ability to push, pull, and navigate supply carts weighing > than 75 pounds periodically.

Personal Protective Equipment:

• Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.
