The Psychiatric Registered Nurse (RN) provides professional nursing care to patients with emotional, mental, and behavioral health disorders. The RN collaborates with an interdisciplinary treatment team to plan and implement individualized care plans, promote safety, and support patients’ therapeutic goals in both acute and long-term behavioral health settings.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care within the scope of nursing practice and facility policies.
• Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments, including risk assessments for suicide or violence.
• Administer medications and monitor effects, side effects, and adherence.
• Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation in high-stress situations.
• Facilitate individual and group therapeutic interventions as directed by the treatment plan.
• Collaborate with psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and other team members to coordinate patient care.
• Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, and coping strategies.
• Document all patient interactions, care, and progress accurately in the electronic health record (EHR).

• Maintain a safe, therapeutic environment in compliance with facility and regulatory safety standards.
