Job Description
Join the ASPCA as a Lead Veterinarian, where you will support a dedicated team in providing high-quality veterinary care to underserved communities. Your role will include mentoring fellow veterinarians, performing surgeries, and ensuring a compassionate environment for both animals and clients.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee and monitor medicine and surgery at the ASPCA’s Community Veterinary Clinic
Train veterinarians in HQHVSN techniques and other medical protocols
Support a positive work culture and provide mentorship to staff
Perform pre-surgery physical examinations and high volume spay/neuter procedures
Provide compassionate preventive and basic care to patients
Triage and refer cases outside of community medicine parameters
Participate in monthly CM Veterinary Medicine Rounds and Morbidity and Mortality Meetings
Required Qualifications
Current California State Veterinary License
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from an AVMA accredited veterinary college
Minimum one year of experience in high quality, high volume spay/neuter
Minimum three years veterinary experience in small animal medicine and surgery
Demonstrate true leadership abilities in challenging situations
Ability to work in high-volume, fast-paced clinic environment
Excellent work attendance record
Fear Free® Shelter certification required within 60 days of hire
