Job Description
Join the ASPCA as a Lead Veterinarian, where you'll lead a dedicated team in delivering high-quality veterinary care to underserved communities. You'll support and mentor staff while ensuring every patient receives exceptional treatment in a compassionate environment.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee and monitor medicine and surgery provided at the veterinary clinics
Train veterinarians in high-quality, high-volume spay/neuter techniques
Support a positive work culture of respect and teamwork
Perform pre-surgery physical examinations and surgical procedures
Provide compassionate quality preventive and basic care
Triage and refer cases that do not fall within Community Medicine parameters
Required Qualifications
Current California State Veterinary License
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from an AVMA accredited veterinary college
Minimum three years veterinary experience in small animal medicine and surgery
Minimum one year of experience in high quality, high volume spay/neuter
Demonstrate true leadership abilities in challenging situations
Excellent work attendance record
Preferred Qualifications
Previous people management experience strongly preferred
Fear FreeĀ® Shelter certification within 60 days of hire
