Key Responsibilities
Ensures compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements
Supports the unit CRL/charge nurse
Rounds on the unit
Conducts hiring, directing, development and evaluation of staff
Identifies and resolves issues affecting patient care services
Assists the unit by taking on the charge role when staffing is low
Develops and implements policies and procedures for health services delivery
Monitors and adheres to budget, approving expenditures
Collaborates with nurse educator to develop staff progression programs
Evaluates quality and effectiveness of nursing practice and services
Provides leadership and direction to nursing unit staff
Ensures compliance with quality, financial, and service benchmarks
Creates staff schedules and manages staff time keeping
Continued development of nursing student-to-hire programs
Reflects ANA Scope and Standards of Nursing Practice
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
Current CT RN license
5 years minimum current experience as an Operating Room RN
Previous management, Charge RN, or Nurse Educator experience
Demonstrated leadership skills
Outstanding communications skills
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s Degree or current enrollment in a Master’s program
Demonstrated ability to scrub on basic surgical procedures
Demonstrated ability to motivate others
