About the opportunity:

A highly respected 192-bed community hospital with over 35 outpatient care centers is seeking a skilled and compassionate Ophthalmologist to join their dedicated medical staff in the picturesque Hudson Valley region , just two hours north of New York City and 30 minutes south of Albany. This full-time opportunity offers the perfect balance of outpatient care and surgical volume in a patient-first environment that prioritizes safety, quality, and compassion.

Position Highlights:

  • Perform comprehensive ophthalmologic evaluations and manage a broad range of eye conditions
  • Conduct surgical procedures including cataract extraction (phacoemulsification), eyelid surgery, laser treatments, and other anterior segment surgeries
  • Collaborate with optometrists, PCPs, and specialists to ensure coordinated, high-quality care
  • Use advanced diagnostics including OCT, fundus photography, slit-lamp exams, and visual fields
  • Provide both routine and urgent ophthalmologic care
  • Participate in community health initiatives and quality improvement projects
  • Opportunity to mentor staff and contribute to a team-oriented culture

Qualifications:

  • MD or DO from an accredited program
  • Completion of an ACGME-accredited Ophthalmology residency
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Ophthalmology
  • Eligible for NY state licensure and hospital credentialing
  • Proficiency in cataract surgery and anterior segment procedures preferred
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset
  • Prior rural or community health experience a plus
