Job Description

Join Grainger as an Industrial Mechanic in Gresham, Oregon, and become the key technical expert for automated material handling systems. You will ensure maximum uptime and resolve complex mechanical and electrical issues, contributing to the efficiency of the distribution center.

Key Responsibilities

  • Be the primary responder for complex system issues involving automated material handling
  • Assist with infrastructure upgrades and modifications/repairs to DC assets
  • Troubleshoot/diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and control system components
  • Work in teams to resolve problems by proposing unique solutions
  • Perform audits and quality checks on equipment and systems
  • Provide diagnosis analyses on building equipment and systems
  • Troubleshoot and report on material handling system performance

Required Qualifications

  • Technical degree or Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • Minimum of 5 years of building and equipment maintenance experience
  • Two years maintaining automated material handling systems
  • Complete technical training in electronic controls, power distribution and PLC troubleshooting
  • Experience using electrical test equipment, hand tools, power tools, calipers, gauges
  • Experience with reading and interpreting MEP drawings and schematics
  • High level of understanding of codes such as NEC, BOCA, UBC, MSDS, and OSHA
  • Technical skills to become subject matter expert for automated material handling systems

Preferred Qualifications

  • Design, implement, and document PLC programming changes
  • Understanding of power distribution, power generation, and control circuits
  • Troubleshoot device networks such as ProfiBus, ASiBus, Data Highway and CanBus
  • Experience with thermal imaging equipment
  • Experience with AC drives
