The Pedi Transport Specialist provides critical care and safe transport to critically ill and injured pediatric patients using air and ground ambulance systems. This role functions as a mobile intensive care unit, requiring advanced pediatric critical care experience and certifications such as BLS, PALS, ACLS, and NRP. The position also involves mentoring colleagues and requires licensure as a Registered Nurse with specialized trauma and transport certifications.
POSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide critical care and safe transport to critically ill and injured pediatric patients via fixed wing, rotor wing and ground ambulance. Utilize critical thinking skills and established guidelines to function as a mobile intensive care unit. Serve as a clinical role model, resource, and mentor for colleagues.
EDUCAION/EXPERIENCE
Registered nurse with a minimum of two years of recent pediatric critical care experience. Required BLS, PALS, and ACLS (provider or instructor). NRP (provider or instructor) required within 3 months of hire. Completion of a nationally recognized trauma program within six months of hire. BSN preferred.
LICENSURE
Current license from the Board of Nurse Examiners of the State of Texas to practice as a Registered Nurse is required. Professional certification such as CFRN, CTRN, CCRN, CPEN, or C-NPT required within six months of hire.
