Job Description

Join the ASPCA as a Lead Veterinarian, where you will support and mentor a dedicated team while delivering quality veterinary care to underserved communities. This role emphasizes both medical excellence and compassionate leadership, ensuring that all animals receive the highest standard of care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and monitor medicine and surgery at the ASPCA’s CVC
  • Train veterinarians in HQHVSN techniques and medical protocols
  • Support a positive work culture through regular coaching and feedback
  • Perform spay/neuter surgical procedures and provide veterinary care
  • Triage and refer cases not within Community Medicine parameters
  • Schedule staff veterinarians for optimal coverage

Required Qualifications

  • Current California State Veterinary License
  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from an AVMA accredited veterinary college
  • Minimum three years veterinary experience in small animal medicine and surgery
  • Minimum one year of experience in high quality, high volume spay/neuter
  • Demonstrate true leadership abilities in challenging situations
  • Excellent work attendance record

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous people management experience
  • Fear Free® Shelter certification (required within 60 days of hire)
