The Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN ER) provides immediate and skilled nursing care to patients experiencing medical emergencies. Working in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment, the ER nurse assesses, prioritizes, and treats patients with a variety of acute conditions and trauma. This role requires strong clinical judgment, quick decision-making, and the ability to work efficiently in a multidisciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess, triage, and prioritize patients based on severity of condition.
  • Provide emergency nursing care, including medication administration, wound care, IV therapy, and life-saving interventions.
  • Monitor patient status and respond quickly to changes in condition.
  • Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to determine appropriate treatment.
  • Prepare patients for diagnostic procedures and assist during examinations and treatments.
  • Operate and monitor medical equipment (e.g., EKGs, defibrillators, ventilators).
  • Document patient care accurately and in a timely manner in the electronic health record (EHR).
  • Educate patients and families on treatments, procedures, and post-discharge care.
  • Adhere to hospital policies, safety standards, and infection control protocols.
  • Support trauma code and rapid response teams as needed.
  • Participate in continuing education, skills training, and professional development.
