Registered Nurse – Interventional Radiology (IR)

Location: Concord, MA
Contract Length: 13 Weeks
Shift Type: 10-Hour Day Shifts
Schedule:

  • 4x10s, Monday–Friday
  • Variable day off
  • Holidays required, weekends as needed
  • Rotating call:
    • Weekdays: 6:00 PM – 11:00 PM
    • Weekends: 7:00 AM – 11:00 PM

Guaranteed Hours: 40/week

Job Summary:

The IR Nurse provides direct and specialized care to inpatients and outpatients undergoing interventional radiology procedures. The role involves supporting radiologists during procedures, administering conscious sedation, recognizing and treating contrast reactions, and responding to emergencies. The nurse will work with pediatric, adult, and geriatric populations and must be able to function independently and make critical decisions in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver optimal patient care using the nursing process.
  • Monitor vital signs, recognize EKG changes, and initiate interventions.
  • Administer medications, including conscious sedation.
  • Assist in emergency situations and contrast reaction management.
  • Support radiologists during specialized IR procedures.
  • Operate and monitor equipment (e.g., infusion pumps, O₂ devices, ventilators).
  • Provide education and emotional support to patients and families.
  • Document patient status and all interventions accurately.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to safety protocols.
  • Participate in departmental quality assurance and policy adherence.

Required Qualifications:

  • MA Registered Nurse License (active)
  • BLS & ACLS certification
  • 3–5 years of nursing experience
  • Critical care (ICU/ED) experience required
  • Proficient in IV therapy, aseptic technique, and emergency response
