Job Description
Join Optum as a Patient Access Representative and play a pivotal role in enhancing health outcomes for millions. In this dynamic position, you will provide patient-oriented service in a clinical setting, manage administrative duties, and ensure a seamless registration process, all while being part of a diverse and inclusive culture.
Key Responsibilities
Communicates directly with patients and/or families to complete the registration process
Utilizes computer systems to enter and verify patient data
Gathers necessary clinical information and processes referrals
Verifies insurance coverage and creates price estimates
Collects patient co-pays and discusses financial obligations
Identifies outstanding balances and attempts to collect amounts due
Collects data directly from patients and referring provider offices
Responds to patient inquiries with compassion and respect
Generates and analyzes patient data reports and follows up on issues
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma/GED (or higher)
1+ years of customer service experience in a hospital, office setting, customer service setting or phone support role
Must be 18 years of age or older
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Microsoft Office products
Experience in a Hospital Patient Registration Department, Physician office or any medical setting
Experience in requesting and processing financial payments
Experience in insurance reimbursement and financial verification
Working knowledge of medical terminology
Understanding of insurance policies and procedures
Ability to perform basic mathematics for financial payments
