Highway & Roads Market Sector DirectorPrimary Responsibilities Market Sector Directors (MSD) are part of HDR's matrix management structure that drive our business. The HDR Highway & Roads (H&R) market sector is the largest, representing nearly $1B in annual revenue globally. It includes clients that own and operate highways, toll roads, city, town, and local roads, and bridge structures. HDR provides services such as bridge and highway design, traffic engineering, transportation planning, and tolling services. This role requires an understanding of H&R clients, their funding, revenue streams, and their operation within governmental structures at various levels. The primary responsibilities are divided into: Market leadership and business development (~70%) Staff development (20%) Support to Operations (10%) Market Sector Directors set the vision for HDR's strategy in this sector, support growth initiatives, develop staff, and coordinate strategies with various leadership and practice groups. They maintain communication with regional and area leadership to implement growth and operational plans. The role involves expanding HDR's client relationships domestically and internationally, engaging with local clients, and providing comprehensive services across HDR's offerings. Responsibilities include: Creating and implementing strategic visions for the sector Serving as a Client Manager for key clients Leading business development and pursuit activities Participating in industry associations and leadership roles Developing strategic partnerships and industry presence Staff Development Lead an organization that supports client service, growth, and staff development, including recruiting and performance management. Support to Operations Assist in project delivery, monitor performance indicators, promote quality assurance, and facilitate knowledge sharing. Qualifications Preferred: 20+ years in highway/bridge engineering, PE license, leadership in industry associations. Required: Bachelor's in Engineering, 12+ years industry experience, strong communication and management skills, strategic marketplace positioning, and commitment to HDR's culture.
