Collins Aerospace Power & Controls division is seeking a Principal Engineer, Program Engineering to help lead and drive engineering efforts on our Engine Control Systems (ECS) support of Pratt & Whitney’s cutting-edge Geared Turbofan (GTF) engines, specifically the PW1500G and PW1900G platforms.
In this critical role, you will be at the forefront of delivering high-performance, highly reliable control systems and components that power the current generation of highly efficient, sustainable, and modern commercial aircraft. Acting as a primary engineering interface within the Program Management Team, you will ensure seamless technical execution across all phases of the program from development through delivery while aligning engineering strategy with program goals.
You will collaborate closely with internal cross-functional teams, executive program leadership, and serve as the key technical liaison with our customer, Pratt & Whitney. This is a highly visible and influential position that offers the opportunity to shape product performance, strengthen customer relationships, and make a direct impact on Collins’ continued success in aerospace systems.
Represent the engineering organization on the Large Commercial Engines Integrated Program Management Team, ensuring technical priorities are aligned with broader program goals.
Provide strategic guidance and technical direction to Integrated Product Teams (IPTs), empowering them to deliver innovative, high-quality solutions.
Oversee key milestones and deliverables by tracking IPT progress, identifying risks early, and driving teams to meet commitments.
Ensure all program technical requirements, performance targets, and engineering budgets are tracked, managed, and achieved.
Serve as the central hub for technical communication, internally across engineering and leadership teams, and externally with customers like Pratt & Whitney.
Deliver clear, concise updates to senior leadership, cross-functional teams, and customer stakeholders, both written and verbal.
Lead the charge on fleet monitoring and field investigations to proactively identify and resolve issues. Maintain and improve fleet reliability metrics to support long-term program success and customer satisfaction.
Requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience
Proven background in Project Engineering or Program Management, with a strong track record of leading cross-functional teams within a matrixed organization.
Familiarity with control systems for commercial turbofan engines is highly desired, including system-level integration and performance.
Hands-on experience in the design, development, and certification of control system hardware, with an understanding of regulatory and industry standards.
Solid foundation in systems engineering principles, including requirements development, validation, and verification.
Ability to effectively communicate complex technical information across all levels of the organization from engineering teams to executive leadership and external customers.

The salary range for this role is 101,000 USD - 203,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
