Job Description

Join ChanceLight Behavioral Health as a Special Education Teacher and empower students with diverse learning needs in a dynamic elementary school environment. You'll lead instructional processes, create personalized learning experiences, and collaborate with a supportive team dedicated to making a meaningful impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Creating an inclusive, collaborative environment
  • Establishing a classroom climate of respect and accountability
  • Implementing school-wide PBIS strategies
  • Tracking and documenting student progress
  • Delivering differentiated and targeted instruction
  • Adapting curricular content and instructional approaches
  • Utilizing engaging instructional methods and resources
  • Managing student caseload responsibilities
  • Preparing detailed daily lesson plans
  • Maintaining an organized and safe classroom environment
  • Staying informed on current instructional practices
  • Responding to feedback and pursuing professional growth
  • Supporting the school community with additional duties

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in education, special education or a closely related field
  • Meet all state teaching license and/or certification requirements
  • Licensed currently or in the process of obtaining a state special education credential
  • Prior experience working with curriculum development, differentiation and instruction in a classroom setting
  • Prior experience and/or knowledge in special education services and compliance
  • Prior experience working with students with individualized education plans (IEPs)
  • Proven success in developing and implementing effective education plans for students with diverse needs
  • Proficiency in providing motivation and having critical conversations with students
  • Advanced oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to think and act quickly and calmly in an emergency
