Job Description
Join the ASPCA as a Lead Veterinarian and lead a dedicated team in providing high-quality veterinary care to underserved communities. You will support veterinary staff, oversee critical medical procedures, and ensure compassionate care for animals. Key Responsibilities
Oversee and monitor medicine and surgery provided at the ASPCA’s CVC
Train veterinarians in high-quality, high-volume spay/neuter techniques
Support a positive work culture of respect, belonging and teamwork
Coach veterinarians to communicate effectively with clients
Perform pre-surgery physical examinations and spay/neuter surgical procedures
Provide compassionate veterinary care including diagnostics and treatment recommendations
Schedule CM staff veterinarians and per diems for optimal coverage
Required Qualifications
Current California State Veterinary License
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree (or equivalent) from an AVMA accredited veterinary college
Minimum one year of experience in high quality, high volume spay/neuter
Minimum three years veterinary experience in small animal medicine and surgery
Demonstrate true leadership abilities in challenging situations
Maintain open mind regarding changes and be willing to learn, implement, and teach new protocols
Possess ability to work in high-volume, fast-paced clinic environment
Excellent work attendance record
Fear Free® Shelter certification is required within 60 days of hire
Preferred Qualifications
Previous people management experience strongly preferred
