Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Independently performs advanced diagnostic ultrasound procedures
  • Serves as a clinical mentor for junior staff and students
  • Verifies physician order and procedure to ensure accuracy
  • Explains procedure to patient to ensure understanding
  • Operates equipment to complete imaging procedure according to protocol
  • Reviews patient images prior to transmission
  • Completes timely quality control procedures
  • Assists in departmental operations
  • Adapts behavior to the specific patient population

Required Qualifications

  • Completion of a CAHEA approved formal training program in diagnostic medical sonography
  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) or registry eligible
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2 years of sonographer experience
  • Advanced certification in area(s) of specialty
