🩺 Position Overview
This is a Registered Nurse (RN) position in a medical-surgical (med-surg) setting with responsibilities that may include pre-admission testing, day surgery coordination, telemetry monitoring, and post-operative follow-up. It’s a hands-on clinical role requiring both technical nursing skills and strong interpersonal abilities.
Experience:
- 1 year of Med-Surg preferred
- Telemetry and skilled nursing experience also preferred
- Basic Dysrhythmia Course required within 6 months if no telemetry experience
✅ Key Responsibilities
🌟 Patient Care:
- Perform full-cycle nursing care: assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation.
- Deliver patient-centered care with dignity and respect.
- Administer medications, IV therapy, and manage pain effectively.
- Educate and discharge planning with patients/families.
- Monitor patient safety and report incidents or safety risks.
🧾 Documentation & Communication:
- Complete thorough, timely, and accurate documentation.
- Provide detailed hand-offs and collaborate with healthcare team.
- Ensure pre-op documentation is complete (e.g., H&P, consents, labs).
🏥 Pre/Post-Operative Duties:
- Conduct pre-admission testing: blood draws, EKGs.
- Review test results and communicate abnormalities to the care team.
- Support patients with emotional and psychological changes related to surgery.
- Initiate and document post-op calls to Med/Surg patients.
🧠 Skills & Knowledge Required
- Understanding of med-surg, telemetry, and pre-op procedures.
- Must be able to prioritize in a fast-paced, sometimes emergent environment.
- Able to identify and respond to ethical issues in care.
- Must be an advocate for patient privacy, safety, and infection control (e.g., hand hygiene compliance).
💪 Physical & Behavioral Expectations
Physical Demands:
- Frequent physical activity required: lifting (up to 50 lbs), reaching, handling equipment, kneeling, etc.

📋 Minimum Job Requirements
Education:
- Graduate of accredited nursing school.
Licensure/Certifications:
- Current Massachusetts RN license
- ACLS required upon hire, or BLS with ACLS within 60 days
