Job Description

Join the ASPCA as a Lead Veterinarian, where you'll lead a dedicated team in providing high-quality veterinary care to underserved communities. You'll train and mentor fellow veterinarians, ensuring the highest standards of animal welfare and client experience while contributing to a mission that makes a real impact on the lives of pets and their owners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and monitor medicine and surgery at the clinics
  • Train veterinarians in spay/neuter techniques and protocols
  • Support a positive work culture through regular feedback and coaching
  • Perform pre-surgery examinations and high-volume surgical procedures
  • Provide compassionate veterinary care during clinic days
  • Schedule staff and ensure optimal coverage
  • Participate in veterinary medicine rounds and meetings

Required Qualifications

  • Current California State Veterinary License
  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from an AVMA accredited veterinary college
  • Minimum one year of experience in high quality, high volume spay/neuter
  • Minimum three years veterinary experience in small animal medicine and surgery
  • Demonstrate true leadership abilities in challenging situations
  • Possess ability to work in high-volume, fast-paced clinic environment
  • Fear FreeĀ® Shelter certification within 60 days of hire

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous people management experience
