Eastside Prep has grown from 17 students in 2003-2004 to a projected 535 for the academic year 2025-2026. History of Equity, Inclusion, and Compassionate Leadership (EICL) at EPS Over the past decade, Eastside Preparatory School (EPS) has deepened its work in equity, inclusion, and compassionate leadership (EICL). EPS was founded as a school for a broad range of learners, incorporating neurological equity and diversity into its foundation. Our dedication to equity, inclusion, and compassionate leadership shapes all aspects of our school. Moving Forward The new director will join the school at a pivotal moment. This position presents challenges and opportunities: Articulating the role of diversity within the organization. Reflecting the demographics of the larger Eastside of the Puget Sound region. Commitment to LGBTQ+ communities and ensuring all identities are affirmed. Increasing representation among our employee community, especially BIPOC individuals. Utilizing data to address inequities among key demographics. Engaging communities represented within the school. Addressing socioeconomic diversity and increasing the financial aid budget. Envisioning the Future Over the next three years, EPS will address structural challenges and inequities while centering the community in service to its Mission and Vision. The EICL Director will lead initiatives to integrate EICL across all operations and programs. Position Summary The Equity, Inclusion, and Compassionate Leadership Director will provide visionary leadership to foster an inclusive and equitable school community. This full-time position reports directly to the Head of School and supervises a team including EICL Coordinators and administrative staff. Start date is July 1, 2025. Position Responsibilities Strategic Leadership and Vision Engage in vision work to align EICL efforts with the school’s objectives. Set measurable goals based on the Belonging Audit findings. Student and Community Support Serve as a visible leader for students and families, especially from underrepresented groups. Oversee affinity space programming for students and faculty/staff. Provide opportunities to connect with and support parents/guardians. Collaborative Responsibilities Design and implement EICL-focused programming and events. Collaborate with academic teams to ensure alignment with EICL principles. Faculty, Staff, and Trustee Engagement Provide ongoing professional development on EICL literacy. Support policy improvements that foster belonging. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Collaborative mindset with expertise in diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging initiatives. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to lead institutional change and build community partnerships. Experience and Credentials A minimum of three years of leadership experience in an EICL or related role. Experience in policy development and organizational change.
