PCU RN Job Details

• Location: Puyallup, Washington 98372
• Assignment Type: Travel Nurse
• Unit: Nursing Float Pool (primarily ED Holding; float to PCU, Medical-Surgical, ICU, and Rehab as needed)
• Start Date: December 15, 2025
• End Date: April 4, 2026
• Contract Duration: 16 weeks
• Shift: 12-hour day shifts
• Hours per Week: 36 guaranteed

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of recent Progressive Care Unit (PCU) nursing experience
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Washington state or compact state
• Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Telemetry nursing competency required
• Excellent communication and patient education skills
• Ability to float between units within scope of practice
• First-time travel nurses are encouraged to apply

PCU Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to patients in PCU, ED Holding, and other assigned units
• Manage diverse patient diagnoses: respiratory compromise, sepsis, renal failure, CHF, COPD, pneumonia, and medical-surgical cases
• Interpret cardiac rhythms and titrate IV medications (Amiodarone, Cardizem, nitro, dopamine, dobutamine, insulin, heparin)
• Care for patients with chest tubes, lumbar drains, tracheostomies, and advanced clinical needs
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams including techs, respiratory therapists, hospitalists, and intensivists
• Float to various hospital units, adapting to different patient populations and acuity levels
• Assist with patient transport throughout the hospital
• Maintain accurate documentation using EPIC EMR
• Deliver patient and family education and support
