Key Responsibilities
Reads charts, prescriptions, and radiology requests for valid physician orders
Obtains pertinent clinical information and follows special requests
Prepares contrast media according to orders or policy
Assures proper patient identification prior to procedures
Questions female patients regarding pregnancy before procedures
Reports responses to radiologist or physician for guidance
Performs diagnostic x-ray procedures not involving fluoroscopy
Assists physicians during fluoroscopic and invasive procedures
Functions in the operating room for diagnostic x-ray coverage
Lifts and moves patients with assistance
Operates all x-ray equipment available to the Medical Imaging department
Notifies supervisor of equipment deficiencies
Develops x-rays and maintains processing equipment
Maintains assigned x-ray room and stocks necessary supplies
Assists in the operation of the x-ray file room
Labels all studies correctly
Required Qualifications
Graduate from an AMA approved program in Radiological Technology
Current New York State licensure or permit to practice as a Radiological Technologist
New York State Department of Health Licensure and Registered with ARRT
BLS within 3 months of hire
Ability to think and act quickly for efficient patient care
Good reading and deductive skills
Sensitivity and interpersonal skills to deal with patients
