Registered Nurse – Interventional Radiology | RWJBarnabas Health – Jack & Sheryl Morris Cancer Center

Shift: 4x10-Hour Days (8:00 AM – 6:30 PM)
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
Float Requirement: Yes – between Main Campus and Morris Cancer Center
On-Call Requirement: 2–3 days/week
Block Scheduling: Not available
First-Time Travelers Accepted: Yes

Facility Overview

The Jack & Sheryl Morris Cancer Center , opening May 2025, is New Jersey’s first freestanding cancer hospital. It integrates RWJBarnabas Health and Rutgers Cancer Institute under one roof, connected to RWJ University Hospital via pedestrian bridge.

Qualifications

• Experience Required:
  • Minimum 2 years in a stroke center
  • Level I or II trauma experience
  • ED or ICU experience highly preferred
• Certifications Required:
  • BLS
  • ACLS
  • NIHSS
• Travel Experience: Not required
• Charge Experience: Preferred
• Scrub Experience: Required

Skills & Procedures

Specialty Equipment & Procedures:

• EKOS+, A-line, procedural wedge pressures
• Moderate sedation, vasoactive drips, ventilator management
• Stroke and trauma interventions
• Conscious sedation recovery (some patients go to PACU)
• Midline insertion (house-wide coverage)
• PICC assistance (insertions by PAs)

Clinical Skills:

• ACT*, Dysrhythmia interpretation, sedation monitoring
• Radiation/laser safety*, pressure ulcer prevention*
• Sheath removal, vascular closure systems
• Richmond Agitation-Sedation Scale
• Ventilator monitoring

Procedures:

• Angioplasty*, Chemoembolization, Liver Ablation
• Paracentesis, TIPS, Carotid/Cerebral Angiography
• Stent Graft Placement*, PCI*, Discogram*
• Nephrostomy, Renal Artery Stenting, Uterine Embolization
• Central Venous Access, Dialysis Graft Interventions
• Upper/Lower Extremity Angiography

Medications:

• Antihypertensives, Emergency meds, Thrombolytics
• Procedural sedation administration/monitoring

Work Settings:

• Interventional Radiology, Pre/Post Procedure, Special Procedures
