Clinical Nurse - Urology Unit (MSBI Union Square)
Registered Nurse delivering safe, quality, evidence-based care using the Relationship Centered Care model.
Patient Care Responsibilities:
- Provides patient care using the nursing process, theory, research, and standards.
- Assesses and evaluates care needs with critical thinking.
- Applies relevant assessment/intervention skills in care delivery.
- Collaborates with interdisciplinary team for care planning and evaluation.
- Prioritizes care: teaching, rounding, discharge planning, and delegation.
- Educates patients/caregivers on care plans, transitions, health promotion, and disease prevention.
- Communicates effectively with patients, families, and care teams.
- Manages assignments using Modified Primary Nursing model; allocates resources effectively.
Patient Experience:
Demonstrates Mount Sinai Relationship Centered Care (MSHRCC) practices:
- Admission Welcome, Bedside Shift Report, HELP, AM/PM Care, 5-Minute Sit Down, Hourly Rounding, Med Review, Discharge Wrap-Up, MD/RN Collaboration.
- Considers patient values, culture, needs, and knowledge in care.
- Maintains therapeutic relationships with patients/families.
- Uses evidence-based practices to understand patient perspectives.
- Initiates and escalates service recovery as needed.
- Shows empathy, compassion, and active listening.
- Supports team use of evidence-based practices for better patient experience.
- Performs Purposeful Hourly Rounding, addressing the 4 Ps (Pain, Positioning, Personal Needs, Possessions).
Quality and Safety
- Delivers safe, efficient, patient-centered care; identifies and reports improvement areas.
- Demonstrates essential clinical skills and safety knowledge.
- Applies institutional and evidence-based processes for improvement.
- Participates in formal/informal peer and institutional reviews.
- Leads/joins quality improvement projects, EBP activities, and research.
- Contributes to compliance and quality/safety measures.
- Applies high-reliability principles to minimize risk and ensure safety.
- Escalates safety issues per protocol.
- Documents of nursing care to support quality and performance improvement.
Skills: NYS RN License BLS 2 years med surg/ambulatory care experience preferred Minimum 2 years RN experience
