Job Description
Join Optum as an Associate Patient Care Coordinator to provide essential patient-oriented services in a clinical setting. You'll play a vital role in improving health outcomes by assisting patients with registration, insurance verification, and appointment scheduling in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Communicates directly with patients and/or families to complete the registration process
Utilizes computer systems to enter or verify patient data
Gathers clinical information and processes referrals and pre-authorizations
Verifies insurance coverage and benefits
Collects patient co-pays and discusses financial obligations
Identifies outstanding balances and collects payments
Confirms and creates scheduled appointments for patient services
Responds to patient and caregiver inquiries with compassion
Generates and analyzes patient data reports
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma/GED or higher
1+ years of customer service experience in a hospital, office setting, or customer service role
Must be 18 years of age or older
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Microsoft Office products
Experience in a Hospital Patient Registration Department or any medical setting
Experience in insurance reimbursement and financial verification
Experience in requesting and processing financial payments
Working knowledge of medical terminology
Understanding of insurance policies and procedures
Ability to perform basic mathematics for financial payments
