Key Responsibilities
Provide concurrent and retrospective reviews of inpatient medical records
Identify opportunities for accuracy and completeness of clinical documentation
Collaborate with inpatient care providers to ensure compliant documentation
Reflect the true Severity of Illness (SOI) and Risk of Mortality (ROM)
Required Qualifications
RN, BSN, RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CPC, CIC, CCDS, or CDIP
1-year related experience in acute care inpatient nursing or inpatient coding or HIM
Excellent critical thinking skills
Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
Strong computer skills including typing ability
Ability to plan and organize workflow
Ability to work independently and in a stressful environment
Detail oriented
Preferred Qualifications
3 years nursing, inpatient coding, or other HIM role in acute hospital setting
Knowledge of diagnosis-related groups (DRG) and hospital quality performance initiatives
