🔍 Position Summary
Amergis is seeking a board-certified Psychiatrist to provide compassionate, evidence-based psychiatric care to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a collaborative, interdisciplinary setting
✅ Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments and clinics
- Diagnose and treat residents using psychotropic medications
- Develop and implement individualized psychiatric treatment plans
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (IDT), neurologists, and specialists
- Provide consultation and training to behavioral health and direct care staff
- Manage psychiatric emergencies and authorize hospitalizations when necessary
- Conduct regular and emergency medication reviews
- Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives
- Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic health record (EHR)
- Ensure compliance with ICF-IID and DOJ standards
📋 Qualifications
- Licensure: Fully licensed Psychiatrist in Texas (clean license required)
- Certifications: CPR/BLS, DEA, NPI
- Education: Completion of an accredited psychiatric residency
- Experience: Minimum 3 years of psychiatric experience
- Preferred Skills:
- Experience with interdisciplinary treatment teams
- Knowledge of polypharmacy and antipsychotic medication dosing
- Experience diagnosing individuals with intellectual disabilities
