REGISTERED NURSE PCU FLOAT

DESCRIPTION:

Position: Registered Nurse – Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
Location: Kansas City, MO
Contract: 13 Weeks
Shift: 3x12s, Nights (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM)

Requirements
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience required. Previous Charge RN and Teaching Hospital experience preferred.
  • Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS (required).
  • Licensure: Active RN license (pending licenses not accepted).
  • First-time Travelers: Accepted.
  • Holiday/Charge Shifts: Required as needed per unit.
  • Weekend Requirement: 8 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule period (Fri/Sat/Sun combinations).
Ratios
  • Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:5
Skills Required
  • Work Settings: MS/Tele, Telemetry, Cardiac Telemetry, ER Holding, Neuro Stepdown, PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown.
  • Cardiac Monitoring & Emergency Response: Dysrhythmia interpretation/management, telemetry monitoring (unit & remote), rapid response team participation.
  • Cardiovascular: Post-Cardiac, Angiogram, Post-MI, Pre/Post Cardiac Cath, Pre/Post Cardiac Surgery.
  • Endocrine/Metabolic: IV insulin protocols.
  • Gastrointestinal: Feeding tube care and management.
  • Genitourinary/Renal: Pre/Post Hemodialysis, Renal failure management.
  • IV Therapy/Phlebotomy: Blood product administration, central line care/management, PICC line management, phlebotomy, peripheral line care/management, IV starts.
  • Medications: Heparin protocols, management & titration of cardiac drips, PCA, procedural sedation administration.
  • Neurological/Psychiatric: Stroke (CVA) care.
  • Orthopedics: Peripheral nerve block catheters, total joint replacements.
  • Plastics: Surgical drains.
  • Respiratory: Tracheostomy management, chest tubes, external CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, oxygen delivery systems, non-invasive airway management.
  • Professional Skills: Isolation precautions, wound care, wound vac management.
Skills Preferred
  • IV Therapy/Phlebotomy: Port access.
  • Oncology: Chemotherapy monitoring.
