Job Summary:

The Special Education Teacher is responsible for designing and implementing individualized educational programs (IEPs) for students with disabilities. The role involves adapting general education lessons, collaborating with other educators, and providing support to help each student achieve academic, social, and emotional success.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) based on student evaluations and assessments.
• Provide direct instruction to students with disabilities, using a variety of teaching techniques and materials.
• Modify and adapt curriculum and instructional materials to meet the needs of each student.
• Collaborate with general education teachers, parents, administrators, and support staff to develop inclusive learning environments.
• Monitor and document student progress toward academic, behavioral, and social goals.
• Conduct assessments and participate in IEP meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and multidisciplinary team meetings.
• Maintain compliance with federal, state, and district regulations regarding special education.
• Foster a safe, nurturing, and supportive classroom environment.
• Provide support in behavior management and social skills development.
• Participate in professional development and training opportunities.

Must hold VA teaching license with SPED endorsement
