Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical problems and determine corrective action
  • Inspect, operate, and test machinery and equipment to diagnose malfunctions
  • Perform basic welding activities for repairs
  • Troubleshoot and repair Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)
  • Perform and assign all preventive maintenance
  • Follow blueprints, schematics, operations manuals, and specifications
  • Perform boiler chemical and wastewater testing and make adjustments
  • Manage and assign all equipment maintenance
  • Oversee compliance with regulatory and environmental requirements
  • Assume responsibility for all aspects of safety within the maintenance department
  • Conduct training for technicians
  • Utilize a Computerized Maintenance Management System
  • Partner with the Production Manager on budget management

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Two-year technical degree in an appropriate background preferred
  • At least 21 years of age
  • Valid driver’s license and safe driving record
  • Pass UniFirst’s maintenance knowledge assessment
  • Knowledgeable in maintenance equipment including wiring, electrical, mechanical, electronic components, pipe systems, and plumbing
  • Minimum of 3 years of work experience repairing industrial processing equipment in a production environment
  • Maintenance administration experience including planning, scheduling, budgeting, negotiating, parts management, vendor management, maintenance management systems
  • Ability to read blueprints and schematics
  • Ability to read and understand maintenance literature in English
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Experience in Hand & Power tools
  • Lockout / Tagout experience
  • Ability to work overtime as needed
  • Ability to lift up to 80 lbs

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience supervising maintenance personnel
