Job Description

As a Principal Engineer in the Energetics and Propulsion Department, you'll lead the development of advanced one shot devices, working closely with a cross-functional team to design, test, and manage production efforts. This role is crucial in ensuring the safety and efficacy of weapon initiation systems that support national defense.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop architectures and top-level design concepts for one shot devices
  • Provide technical oversight to various subcontractors
  • Manage subcontract suppliers to deliver required subsystem components
  • Interface with customers to identify user needs
  • Contribute to technology development roadmaps
  • Support failure analysis and corrective action through redesign
  • Present design models and supporting analyses/test results
  • Support proposals requiring one shots technologies

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM)
  • 8 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced degree and 5 years of relevant experience
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in fuzing / one shots / engineering technology and/or engineering design
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance

Preferred Qualifications

  • MS in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Math, or related science degree
  • Ten or more years of directly related experience in one shot devices and their applications
  • Directly related experience in one shots subsystems design, development, and test
  • Experience in working with and managing one shot suppliers
  • Supplier collaboration experience and oversight generating specifications and statements of work (SOW)
  • Experience in business development and technology road mapping
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple and competing priorities
  • Experience with DoD customers and/or associated contractor executives
