Job Description
Join Navy Federal Credit Union as a Technical Accountant I, where you'll play a key role in executing financial accounting processes while ensuring compliance with federal and industry regulations. You'll have the opportunity to mentor teammates, conduct in-depth analyses, and contribute to quality control and process improvements within a supportive and rewarding environment.
Key Responsibilities
Perform accounting activities including review and analysis of financial statements
Conduct monthly close activities
Perform account reconciliation and variance analysis
Ensure compliance with GAAP and ASC
Lead and guide Accounting Technicians
Investigate and resolve discrepancies
Assist with internal and external audits
Participate in process improvement initiatives
Required Qualifications
Familiarity with GAAP
Understanding of Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) control environment
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, PowerPoint)
Ability to work independently and in a team
Experience with credit union financials and/or NCUA regulations
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
Demonstrated intention to pursue or currently pursuing CPA certification
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
CPA certification highly desired
