This role offers a unique opportunity to impact the lives of animals in New York City as the Senior Director overseeing behavioral care at the Animal Recovery Center and Canine Annex for Recovery and Enrichment. You will lead a dedicated team in providing individualized care and spearheading research initiatives aimed at improving animal welfare and rehabilitation.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee behavioral care and pathway planning for animals
Ensure high-quality, low-stress care for animals
Develop and implement behavioral diagnosis and treatment plans
Lead and mentor a team of behavior experts
Collaborate on research projects related to animal behavior
Maintain thorough behavioral records
Required Qualifications
Master’s or PhD in animal behavior or related discipline (for non-veterinarian candidates)
DVM degree from AVMA accredited veterinary school (for veterinary behaviorist candidates)
3+ years’ experience in people management
Ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
Fear Free certified within 6 months of hire
Experience with behaviorally and medically compromised animals
Preferred Qualifications
Interest in developing/overseeing research projects
