Job Description
Join the ASPCA as a Lead Veterinarian to support a team dedicated to improving animal welfare in underserved communities. You will lead a high-functioning team, provide top-quality veterinary care, and foster a positive work culture, all while making a significant impact on the lives of pets and their owners.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee and monitor medicine and surgery provided at the ASPCA’s CVC
Train veterinarians in high-quality, high-volume spay/neuter techniques
Support a positive work culture through regular feedback and performance evaluation
Perform pre-surgery physical examinations and approximately 30-40 spay/neuter procedures
Provide compassionate preventive and basic care to patients
Schedule staff veterinarians and per diems for optimal coverage
Participate in veterinary medicine rounds and meetings
Required Qualifications
Current California State Veterinary License
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from an AVMA accredited veterinary college
Minimum one year of experience in high quality, high volume spay/neuter
Minimum three years veterinary experience in small animal medicine and surgery
Demonstrate true leadership abilities in challenging situations
Maintain an open mind regarding changes and be willing to learn, implement, and teach new protocols
Possess ability to work in high-volume, fast-paced clinic environment
Excellent work attendance record
Fear Free® Shelter certification within 60 days of hire
