Position Overview
The Interventional Radiology (IR) Technologist (Angiography/Special Procedures) assists the licensed practitioner in fluoroscopic, interventional, and neuro-interventional procedures using sterile technique. This role includes preparing, administering, and documenting activities related to medications and radiation exposure in alignment with federal/state regulations and facility policy.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and assist with IR procedures: paracentesis, thoracentesis, myelograms, injections, nephrostomy tubes , and related angiographic/special procedures.
- Operate Philips Azurion 7 systems to produce high-quality diagnostic images.
- Maintain strict sterile technique and IR lab readiness; stock, prep, and break down rooms.
- Monitor patient condition; document meds, contrast, radiation dose, and procedural details accurately.
- Collaborate with radiologists, nurses, and fellow technologists to ensure safe, efficient throughput.
- Participate in the call schedule (~10 call days/month , includes varying days per department need).
Unit / Workload
- Beds/Service Area: 88-bed facility
- Patient Population: Primarily adult and geriatric
- Average Case Load: ~10 cases/day
- Team: 2 technologists + 1 technologist in training; 2–3 nurses/day
- Equipment: Philips Azurion 7
Requirements
- 2+ years Interventional Radiology Tech experience (required)
- ARRT credential and Ohio Radiologic License (required)
- BLS certification (required)
- Dysrhythmia exam not required
- Strong knowledge of sterile technique, radiation safety, and IR workflows
