The Office of Residential Life & Student Engagement at Bryn Mawr College seeks an Associate Director for Student Engagement dedicated to creating a vibrant, purposeful, and supportive college community. They will provide leadership, guidance, and support to all student organizations in developing and implementing programs and events. They will work closely with, collaborate with, and serve as a resource to other administrative offices within the College. The position reports to the Dean of Student Life.

The Associate Director is part of a dean's on-call rotation, providing consultation and response for emergencies and on-call consultation and emergency response for physical and mental health crises, alcohol and drug incidents, and interpersonal conflicts.

Residential Life & Student Engagement

Promote and enhance a sense of community on campus by creating opportunities for involvement that support a vibrant social climate throughout the week and on weekends.

Provide general oversight and advocacy for over 130 student clubs and organizations, including new student clubs and organizations, and the annual registration process.

Assist with the implementation of the Bryn Mawr College Traditions.

Serves as a co-advisor for the Self-Governing Association.

Collaborate with Civic Engagement to ensure that students are engaged in the community through direct service, internships, activism, and advocacy.

Support the development of a BMC leadership philosophy and help connect students with leadership development opportunities through the Leadership Learning Laboratory, Owls Leadership Institute, etc.

Partner with Athletics to help support the school spirit of the student body through a vibrant game experience, leadership development of scholar-athletes, and connection with Residential Life programming.

Assist in organizing, planning, and implementing all aspects of sponsored programs, trips, and large-scale events for Student Engagement.

Maintains accurate records of all Student Engagement events and Self-Governing Association activities (including event proposals, budgets, contacts, contracts, media/publicity, and evaluations).

Create, negotiate, and review internal and external contracts for all student organizations.

Develop and implement regular assessments of programs and services.

Maintain student organization policies.

Maintain Student Engagement website and all social media accounts.

Assists with new student orientation and first-year experience programs.

Liaison with Student Engagement offices at Haverford and Swarthmore Colleges and Campus Philly.

Lead organizer for the Student Engagement platform, ENGAGE.

Club and Organization Leadership Development

Provide support and leadership to all student organizations for developing and implementing programs and events.

Oversee the Emerging Owls Leadership Institute.

Host a day retreat for all club leaders.

Host workshops for club and potential student leaders throughout the academic year.

Partner with different departments to offer various workshops for student leaders.

Supervision

Hire, train, and supervise the Student Activities Coordinator.

Hire, train, and supervise the Student Engagement Graduate Assistant.

Assist in the hiring, training, and supervision of the Owl Programing Board (OPB).

Budget Management

Develop and manage the Student Engagement budget.

Advise and provide oversight to the self-governing association (SGA) budget and SGA treasurers.

Approve student club purchase requests following College policies and procedures.

On-Call Responsibilities

Provide on-call consultation and response for emergencies, such as physical and mental health crises, alcohol and drug incidents, and interpersonal conflicts.

Provide on-call support to the On Call Coordinators.

Qualifications

Minimum Education, Skills, and Abilities:

Masters degree required.

Demonstrated understanding of and a commitment to the community college mission and purpose, teaching and learning, high academic standards, and student success.

Ability to work effectively with a diverse student population.

Demonstrated organizational skills with attention to detail.

Ability to work a flexible work schedule, including evenings and weekends as needed.

Demonstrated excellent oral and written interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with students, faculty, and the general public.

3-5 years of work experience in event planning or student activities.
